Kerala Wildlife Tour Package
Kerala is endowed with a very rich flora and fauna. Located amidst
the verdant Western Ghats (Mountain ranges in the south peninsular
region) Kerala houses about 15 wildlife sanctuaries and National Parks
of varying sizes. Famous among them are Periyar Wildlife National
Park, Chinnar Wildlife sanctuary, Eravikulam National Park, Silent
Valley National Park and Thattekad Bird Sanctuary.

Day 01: Arrive-Chennai
Begin your tour. Arrive into Chennai Welcome to Vardhman's ' Kerala
Wildlife Tour Package'! On arrival in Chennai, you will be met and
transferred by our Vardhman representative to your hotel. Relax for
a while and later proceed for sightseeing of Chennai. Visit museum
to see the Art and Bronze Gallery (Closed on Fridays and Public holidays).
Drive through the Flower and Fruit market, High court, Fort Museum,
Marina Beach, San Thome Cathedral and Snake Park.Overnight: Hotel
Day 02: Chennai-Mettupalpyam
Excursion to Vedanthagal Bird Sanctuary. Vedanthangal, the oldest
bird sanctuary in India is one place, which can't easily fade off
from one's memories. The sanctuary is an amazing place to be in, especially
during the Sunset, as you can spot thousands of birds returning to
their nests and dotting trees. You can spot several species of birds
of which most are migratory. The trees are dotted with numerous nests,
which contain little chicks and eggs. For over two hundred years the
villagers around have zealously protected the birds in this sanctuary.
It is interesting to note that the villagers protect the birds with
the same zeal, which their forefathers had shown. They avoid any noisy
activity near the bird sanctuary.
Later in the evening transfer to railway station to catch overnight
train to Mettupalpyam. Overnight: Train
Day 03: Mettupalpyam
Arrive Mettupalpyam railway station in the morning. You will be
met and transferred directly to Madumalai by our representative. Late
afternoon visit Madumalai Wildlife sanctuary.

Day 04: Madumalai
Visit to deciduous forests and Madumalai Bird Sanctuary. The Mudumalai
Wildlife Sanctuary is located amidst the beautiful Nilgiri Hills.
This is the point where the Western Ghats merge with the Eastern Ghats.
The relief of the sanctuary is an interesting mix of plain, swamp,
undulating parkland, open grassland, valleys and streams. There is
a National Park measuring 103 sq km inside the sanctuary. The Mudumalai
Wildlife sanctuary is home to a variety of vegetation. As a nature
and wildlife lover, you will find the breathtaking surroundings of
the sanctuary very appealing. The hilly terrain of the Western Ghats,
with dense forests, adds to the attraction of the wildlife sanctuary.
As you move on the Mysore-Ooty highway through the national Park,
you will find yourself surrounded by nature all the way.

Day 05 : Madumalai - Bandipur - Madumalai
Full Day excursion to Bhandipur National Park. Nestled in the
foothills of the Western Ghats mountains, the Bandipur National Park
is well-known for its expansive tracts of virgin forest. Once a popular
game reserve of the Mysore Maharajas, today Bandipur National Park
is part of the Niligiri Biosphere Reserve encompassing the Nagarhole
National Park, Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary in Kerala and Mudumalai
Wildlife Sanctuary in Tamil Nadu.
In 1973 Bandipur wildlife sanctuary was conferred the status of a
designated tiger reserve as per the ambitious Project Tiger Scheme
launched by the World Wide Fund (WWF). In 1974, the Bandipur wildlife
sanctuary was declared a National Park under the Wildlife Protection
Act. Since then stringent anti-poaching measures have resulted in
a steady increase in the big cat population.Return to the hotel in
Madumalai for an overnight stay.

Day 06: Madumalai-Mukurthi
This morning after breakfast drive to Mukurthy. On arrival check
into your hotel. Later visit Wild life Sanctuary,

Day 07: Mukurthi/Mukurthy
Explore MUKURTHI NATIONAL PARK AND MUKURTHI PEAK.Mukurthi National
Park is another major attraction of the Nilgiris. It is located on
the south eastern corner of the Nilgiris Plateau. The area contains
a viable population of Nilgiri Thar (Hermitragus hilocrius). 27 km
from Ooty and easily accessible, Mukurthi peak is certainly the most
notable height of the Nilgiris. It stands 8380 feet above the sea
and commands one of the most magnificent views to be seen in India.
It is noticeable owing to its curious shape which is that of an acute
angled triangle with one side almost vertical. The view from this
peak is one of finest in South India. The Mukurthi dam has been built
at the foot of this hill under Pykara hydro electricity scheme. The
dam is situated at a distance of 32 km from Ooty and the peak is reached
by walk for a distance of 9 km from there

Day 08: Mukurthy-Ooty
Morning after breakfast, drive towards Ooty- the Beautiful leading
hill resort of south India. Situated in the heart of the Nilgiris
(Blue Mountains), at the height of 2287 Mtr., it lies on a plateau
and looks like a vast park. Lofty hills add to the grandeur of the
scenery. Its climate is similar to summer in England. The terraced
beautiful gardens, which are landmark in Ooty. Ooty is also known
for its tea & coffee plantations. Upon arrival check in at Hotel.
Later visit the Tea plantations and cherish the scenic beauty of Ooty.
Visit the lake, Botanical Gardens, Conoor Tea Gardens, Sims
Park, Dolphins Nose. Later visit Film shooting points &
other points of interest or shopping etc.

Day 09: Ooty-Annamalai
On the day 9 of your tour drive to Annamalai. On arrival check
into your hotel. Relax for remaining part of the day.

Day 10: Annamalai Wildlife Sanctuary
Full day free to visit Annamalai Wildlife Sanctuary
Anamalai wildlife sanctuary is one of the most attractive preserves
of nature in Tamil Nadu. It is also called the India Gandhi national
Park and located in the Western Ghats near Pollachi, about 90 km from
Coimbatore. The wildlife sanctuary is spread over an area of about
958-sq-kms. The Anamalai wildlife sanctuary is an ecological heaven
and includes a National Park

Day 11: Annamalai Wildlife Sanctuary
Trip to Anagundi and Varagaliarrain forests.

Day 13: Annamalai Wildlife Sanctuary - Munnar
On the 13 of your tour, drive to the beautiful hill station of
Munnar set amid Southern India's most dramatic mountain scenery and
the combination of craggy Peaks, Manicured Tea Estates.Crisp mountain
air makes Munnar a delightful alternative to the better known hill
stations of Tamil Nadu. It is a perennial favorite of 'Honeymooners'
and offer magnificent scenery and wonderful walks. At Munnar you are
free to explore its beauty of nature. En-route visit Chinnar Sanctuary.
The Idukki Chinnar wildlife sanctuary is a vast expanse of lush green
forests spread over an area of 90 square kilometers. It is located
at a height of 500-2400 meters above sea level. The Chinnar national
park, Kerala was declared a sanctuary in the year 1984. The undulating
terrain and velvety green cover of plants over the entire sanctuary
is what makes it a haven for the animals and birds of the sanctuary.
The Chinnar wildlife sanctuary is home to the endangered species of
the Giant grizzled squirrel. Besides the squirrel, one can find animals
like elephants, deer, tigers, gaurs, Hanuman monkey, etc. also. A
number of reptiles like vipers, kraits, cobras, pythons, etc. can
also be found here. A common sight is that of beautiful peacocks walking
down the pathway in the sanctuary. One can also avail the boating
facilities that are provided by the concerned authorities of the sanctuary.
The uneven terrain provides ample of opportunities for trekking and
mountain climbing.

Day 14: Munnar-Periyar
This morning proceed on a city tour of Munnar.
Visit Eravikulam National Park to see rare mountain goats locally
called the Nilgiri Tahr, Old Munnar Town, Dairy Farm and the Mattupetty
Dam. Later drive to Periyar (100 kms/03 hrs) on the way visiting Idukki
dam. Check in at the Hotel on arrival.Overnight: Hotel
Day 15: Periyar
Full day free to visit Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. Afternoon,Boat
ride in Lake Periyar to watch wildlife. Sightseeing will include spotting
a large variety of wildlife, which include elephants, monkeys, deer,
wild boar etc.
In the evening visit Kumily spice market to see and buy spices.

Day 16: Periyar-Cochin
This morning after breakfast, drive towards Cochin. By far the
most important place in Kerala for a commercial traveller. Kochi is
the business capital of Kerala. It has a fine natural harbour &
is widely acclaimed as the " Queen of the Arabian Sea".
The city spreads over several Island, the chief among them being Wellingdon,
Mattanchery, Vipin, Gundu & Bolgaty. The 16th century Dutch palace,
the oldest Synagogue of the British common wealth. Hill palace Museum,
Bolgatty Palace & Bird sanctuary. Upon arrival check in at Hotel.
Relax for the remaining part of the day.

Day 17: Depart Cochin
